Mark Gungor is an American priest known for his sense of humour and his ability to explain the staggering differences between men and women in simple, yet accurate terms. The most popular bit from his Laugh Your Way to a Better Marriage lesson is probably
Men's Brains vs Women's Brains. In that he argues that the reason men and women don't always understand each other is the mysterious
Nothing Box.

The Danish Poet is a sweet Norwegian story of love and fate. This 15 minute long cartoon is directed by Torill Kove, and it won the 2007 Oscar for the best short subjects animation. Wonderful storytelling and subtle sense of humour!

Big Buck Bunny is a brilliantly animated story of a giant bunny rabbit, who saves his beloved butterflies from being slaughtered by a gang of vicious rodents. Crisp-clear computer animation!

"In 1969, the 14-year old boy Jerry Levitan, armed with a reel-to-reel tape recorder, snuck into John Lennon's hotel room for a chat."
I Met the Walrus is a wonderfully animated portrayal of the interview that reaches the psychedelic spheres of The Beatles videos. Directed by Josh Raskin.

Waltari is a jurassic Finnish band I have never really bothered with. However, I happened to stumble upon the video of their new song
In the Cradle and learned that I have been wrong about them all these years; this band rocks!

Al Dente is an impressive computer-generated short animation from France. Brilliant work from the beginning to the end! And I don't think I'm the only one who can detect influence of Pixar's Ratatouille here..

In the
second Homeless James Bond episode James is given a new mission and a special vehicle. In this story James gets into a rapid chase, shows his cunning sneakiness, and expresses true character and high values. Go James!

Dangerous missions! Cunning disguises! Breathtaking action! Funky gadgets! Wry one-liners! Beautiful women! That's what all James Bond films are made of, and
Homeless James Bond is no exception. Sure, he might be financially impaired, but he's definitely a hero to his peers!
It's really refreshing to see a well-executed amateur film that is
actually funny!

Fishing with John is a brilliant fishing documentary series by the actor/author/musician John Lurie (
Down by Law, Stranger Than Paradise). While John knows absolutely nothing about fishing, he still manages to convince his celebrity friends (Jim Jarmusch, Tom Waits, Willem Dafoe, Matt Dillon, Dennis Hopper) to come along on elaborate fishing trips. Cheap production values, hilarious and completely irrational narration, and the unforeseen accidents all combine into one of the funniest documentaries ever made, and a true cult classic.
This is the first episode, in which John takes his pal Jim Jarmusch (director of
Broken Flowers, Down By Law, Dead Man fishing for shark. "Jim is on the verge of being pulled in and devoured by the blue shark", says the narrator, as they try to catch the shark with a pistol and a piece of cheese.
I wrote more about the series some time ago at
timo.herd.fi.

Kolme Pukkia - Three Bucks is a crazy animated version of the classic story of three goats trying to cross a bridge guarded by a hungry troll. This is easily the best children's animation I've recently seen, with wicked humour and an incredibly catchy song! Bompiti-bompa bäää-ääääh, bompiti-bompa bäää-ääähhhhh..

Dig Lazarus Dig!!! is the title track of the new album of the ever-wonderful Nick Cave and the Black Seeds. Great song, and excellent video - Cave obviously managed it with just one take!
I linked to the video on Cave's website, as it's of much better quality than what YouTube has to offer.

The new album of Nick Cave and the Black Seeds, "Dig, Lazarus, Dig!!!" came out some time ago, and turned out to be excellent. Before the release, there were seven peculiar promo videos posted over at YouTube. They feature Cave and his band at a spiritualistic session, and it's painfully obvious that none of them can act..
Part 1: "Lest I Shiver"
Part 2: "Place Your Hands Upon the Table"
Part 3: "Is There Spirits in the Room?"
Part 4: "Place Your Fingers Upon the Blanchette"
Part 5: Dim the Lights!"
Part 6: "Blindfold Me Sir!"
Part 7: "Can you feel the spirit?"

Technically speaking this one shouldn't even be here, as - although it is on YouTube - it is not a video. However, since the song is so awesome, I won't let such minor technicalities prevent me from posting this.
Patti Smith, often called the "Godmother of punk" or "poet laureate of punk", takes the Nirvana classic Smells Like Teen Spirit and adds her own personal touch. Thus she provides us with an
amazingly heart-felt song that shows both respect to Kurt Cobain, and is a masterpiece on its own. Beautiful, yet effective.

Korpiklaani is a Finnish folk metal band that mixes traditional Finnish music with hard metal, and dress the result with lyrics that are both nationalistic and funny as hell. Amazingly enough, it works, and the result is both unique and fun.
Wooden Pints is my current favourite; on the video, pay attention to the insane drummer and the slightly less enthusiastic violin player!

Red and Black (or Czerwone i Czarne, as the original title goes) is a Polish animation masterpiece from 1963 by the celebrated animator Witold Giersz. The art and technique used here are amazingly high class, and the story itself very entertaining and funny with numerous twists and surprises. This short film was included on The Anthology of Polish Animation DVD published last year (of which I happen to have a copy, thanks to my friend Agata).
This clip has a bit of English narration at the beginning and the end. Sorry about it, I could not find a version without it and I didn't feel like ripping the video from my DVD. The narration doesn't reduce the value of the clip, though.

Vincent is a short stop-animation flick by Tim Burton, the mastermind behind such animation masterpieces as
The Nightmare Before Christmas and
Corpse Bride, and cinema blockbusters like
Sleepy Hollow,
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and
Sweeney Todd. Created in 1982, Vincent is one of Burton's first. His trademark, the quirky horror-theme, is already present, and the subtle sense of wicked humour shines through. Excellent!

Tommy Tiernan is an Irish stand-up comedian that Kasia has been listening to for hours and hours lately. I must give the guy credit, he is really very good.

Nick Cave is one of the most creative and talented song writers and artists that I know of. With the band Bad Seeds he has done numerous albums of awesome music, and I'm convinced that this video page is going to feature lots of their stuff.
The Weeping Song is one of the many awesome tunes they have produced, and the video with Nick himself and Blixa Bargeld is great too. Enjoy!
